Union Toolbox: the trade pay apps, the union call-out board and the Union Toolbox Facebook Page. Last updated October 15, 2026.
The apps
Your hours, pay, employers and settings stay on your phone. There's no account and no sign-in, and we never see your log. What we do receive:
- When you open an app: an anonymous count. It includes a random number your phone makes up, the phone type, your province or state, which poster, QR code, key card or link brought you there, whether it was opened inside Facebook's or Instagram's browser, and whether the page was on screen. It doesn't include your name or email.
- When you pass an app on: the share link carries a share code that belongs to your phone. It counts how many people arrive by your link and gives you a free month for each friend who buys, up to a year. Once a day the app asks how many of your friends have bought. The code doesn't tell us who you are.
- If you buy a key: your email, passed to us by Stripe and kept with your key so we can find it if you lose it. Stripe handles your card, and we never see the number.
- When you turn on a key: your phone's random number, so one key works on up to three phones.
- If you send an agreement: the files, the local and agreement you typed, your email if you give it, and your phone's share code so a free year can reach it. The files are only read to add the agreement to the app, then deleted.
- If you use the feedback box: your message, your email if you give it, the agreement, job class and province you had selected, your browser type, and the same random number as the usage count.
The call-out board
The board shows union hall call-outs that halls post publicly. It never shows anyone's name. Opening it sends the same kind of anonymous count as the apps: no name, no email, no tracking scripts.
The Facebook Page
The Union Toolbox Facebook Page uses its own app, Union Toolbox Poster, to post the nightly call-out list to the Page and to read comments people leave on the Page's posts so they get an answer. It only works on the Union Toolbox Page. It doesn't log you in, doesn't read your profile, friends or messages, and doesn't post anywhere else. Comments on our posts (the text and the name Facebook shows with it) are read on our own computer to let us know someone wrote, and aren't shared or used for ads.
What we don't do
We don't sell or share any of it, and there are no ads or tracking scripts. The sites are hosted by Cloudflare and payments go through Stripe. They see what any web host or card processor sees.
Seeing or deleting your data
To see or delete what we hold about you, send a note through the feedback box in any of the apps with your key or email (or your Facebook name, for a comment). To delete a comment you left on the Page, delete it on Facebook, or ask us and we'll remove it. We act on requests within 30 days.
Union Toolbox is made by a union tradesperson. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any union.
